    Chamberlain College of Nursing is seeking Part Time Online Visiting Professors interested in teaching students in our Master of Science - Family Nurse Practitioner specialty track . We build long-term relationships with superior nurse educators who are experts in their field and committed to providing the finest in practitioner-focused education.


    This is 100% ONLINE teaching, an incredibly flexible and convenient way to share your experience and knowledge with those who aspire to enjoy the career success you already have.  We are currently seeking candidates for the July 2019 session which will run from July 8th through August 31st.


    Training Provided:


    We care for our students and are dedicated to their success. To ensure we are offering the highest quality education we provide thorough training to all new faculty members. Our New Faculty Orientation is a 3 week session, part time and asynchronous, similar to taking online courses. There is no set schedule, you can work at your own pace and will be participating in group discussions, completing assignments, taking quizzes and a final exam.


    The specific courses under consideration for the July 2019 session are:


    NR507: Advanced Pathophysiology 

    In this course, the student encounters advanced content in pathophysiology and human physiologic responses across the lifespan. The student explores, analyzes, applies and evaluates the normal and abnormal human responses to selected pathophysiologic mechanisms and conditions. 


    NR508:  Advanced Pharmacology

    In this course, the student builds expanded knowledge of pharmacological, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics principals specific to the role of the advanced practice nurse. The student explores, analyzes, applies and evaluates commonly used pharmacotherapeutics for the treatment of chronic diseases and self-limiting acute conditions and applies critical-appraisal skills in determining best evidence for prescriptive intervention.


    NR509: Advanced Physical Assessment 

    In this course, the student builds expanded knowledge of health assessment principles specific to the role of the APN. The student explores, analyzes, applies and evaluates these principals in relation to history-taking and physical examination of clients across the life span. A Health Assessment Performance Evaluation occurs in the laboratory setting (11 hours), requiring the student to visit a site selected by Chamberlain. The student is responsible for completing 14 hours of practice prior to the Health Assessment Performance Evaluation.  


    NR-511: Differential Diagnosis & Primary Care

    In this course, the student learns content on formulating differential diagnoses of individuals within the primary-care setting, along with an introduction to critical diagnostic skills, to cultivate evidence-based behaviors. Emphasis is on processing client information in a logical, progressive manner and formulating differential diagnoses for individuals across the lifespan. The course includes 125 hours of supervised clinical practicum in primary care.


    NR601: Primary Care of the Maturing & Aged Family  

    This course continues to expand the knowledge of health-assessment principles specific to the role of the FNP, with a focus on the common health problems and healthcare needs of the middle-aged and older adult and family. The student will explore, analyze, apply and evaluate chronic health conditions frequently encountered in the primary care of older adults. Students will further develop their skills related to patient education, protocol development, follow-up and referral through a clinical practicum experience in a precepted primary-care setting.


    NR-602:Primary Care of the Childbearing & Childrearing Family

    In this course, the student continues expanding theoretical and practical knowledge of assessment and diagnostic principles specific to the role of the FNP in relation to the needs of women and children within the childbearing and childrearing family. The student advances skills in assessment of specialized populations, health promotion, prevention of illness and diagnosis and management of common health problems. Care strategies include advanced patient education, co-management with families, follow-up and appropriate referral. Care strategies, skills and knowledge learned in class are applied and advanced through a clinical practicum experience.


    NR-661:APN Capstone Practicum 

    In this course, the student synthesizes all elements of clinical management skills and knowledge and continues to analyze, apply and evaluate diverse aspects of patient assessment and healthcare intervention. The student engages in a precepted clinical practicum with an approved provider in an advanced practice setting. Focus topics include clinical-management skills, case studies, chart reviews and practice critique. The student creates a portfolio of academic and clinical experiences.

    • Model effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
    • Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
    • Ensure that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
    • Complete other duties as assigned.


    The Practicum Visiting Professor works online in tandem with an onsite preceptor/clinical professor as students complete 125 hours of onsite practicum experience in a primary-care outpatient setting. Responsibilities for this position will include:

    • Introduce case study-based learning-case presentations in which students are introduced to medical situations and are asked to evaluate, develop a diagnosis, and make recommendations for a course of treatment
    • Engage up to 6 students in asynchronous threaded discussions about these case studies, facilitating the discussions by asking questions, asking for rationale, and encouraging students to employ critical thinking skills as they encounter increasingly complex issues
    • Evaluate student progress in the effective use of critical thinking skills and the application of proficiencies developed in their degree program in recommending treatment and guidance for each case study
    • Communicate with Preceptor at least three times during the 8-week course (beginning, middle, and end) to evaluate and coordinate status of student progress and to ensure that students are logging their hours and patient details in the eLog® software
    • Applies our Chamberlain CARE Values in all work and interaction with colleagues and students. 


    The Course Visiting Professor works with students in the online platform 

    • During this online course, the Visiting Professor will be available via email or telephone to provide support to the student. 
    • Introduce problem based learning presentations in which students are introduced to basic health assessment methods and tools.
    • Engage up to 20 students in asynchronous threaded discussions and facilitating the discussions by asking questions, asking for rationale, and encouraging students to employ critical thinking skills as they encounter increasingly complex issues.
    • Evaluate student progress in the effective use of critical thinking skills and the application of proficiencies developed in the program through practice exams.
    • Communicate with students at least four times weekly throughout the 8-week course and respond to any student inquiries in a timely manner.


    You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you meet these requirements:

    • MSN and DNP or PHD in nursing degree required.
    • A minimum of 2 years teaching experience preferrably at the graduate level; online teaching experience highly preferred.
    • Must have an active APRN nursing license.  For the July 2019 session, it is highly preferred to have an active Florida, Georgia, or Washington nursing license for select courses.  Please note that we are considering applicants with licensure in any states, however, applicants may be considered for future sessions if licensure is not from the preferred states.
    • FNP national certification through the AANP or ANCC required for certain course subjects. 
    • RNA , PNP,  ANP, AGNP, or GNP national certification may be required for other course subject matter. 
    • Must have required subject matter expertise in the course of instruction. 
    • Faculty must have excellent communication, motivational, and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment.
